Sea: Maritime Interdiction

After identification of a suspicious target by a mothership using long range sensors or ELINT, multiple data feeds such as live video, commands and other sensor information can be gathered from small boats, helicopters and UAVs to support decision making and facilitate command and control of operations. TCS’ systems greatly enhance C4ISR capability and effectiveness of the whole fleet when investigating and boarding suspicious vessels.

In a typical chain of events, a patrol ship receives night vision images from a long range EO/IR feed that first identifies a suspicious vessel. UAV or helicopter video feeds can then be redirected in real time to RHIBs that have been sent on an interception course. Access to these live video feeds is critical to the safety and efficiency of the mission, as it allows the RHIB’s crew and boarding party to see what is happening on the deck of the targeted ship. The crew can then remotely access intelligence databases located on the mothership as more information becomes available on persons or cargo of interest. As the RHIBs close in on the suspicious vessel, they have a better view of the situation and send their own camera feeds back to the mothership, followed by high definition images and biometric information to support suspect identification.
